We journey east this weekend (3/10 -3/11) for our first appearance at The Acorn Theater in Three Oaks, Michigan and a return visit to little town that packs a big afrobeat punch, Yellow Springs, Ohio. We’re hoping that bringing our funk to the elegance of The Acorn Theater will recruit some South Bend and Elk Hart, Indiana folks to the show — it’s only about a half hour’s drive for you guys. Pass on the word if you have friends there. In Yellow Springs, Peach’s Grill once again hosts CAbP. We look forward to heating up the room with some familiar faces.
CAbP AIDS Effort Highlighted by African Networks for Health Research and Development
Afro-Nets, the African Network for Health Research and Development, recently highlighted Chicago Afrobeat Project’s contributions to Journalists Against AIDS Nigeria (JAAIDS), a non-profit organization that creates innovative communication programs to battle AIDS in Nigeria. According to Omololu Falobi, executive director of JAAIDS, “We deeply appreciate this [donation], particularly coming as it were from a group that maintains close links to Afrobeat and to Fela, whose AIDS-related death did a lot to change the tide in public awareness about HIV and AIDS Nigeria.” View more about the contribution at www.afronets.org.
Back to The Note for First Beat on 3/4!
Saturday, March 4 brings us back home for our monthly late-night gig at The Note from 2-5 a.m. Come feel the vibe as we throw out some hard-hitting afrobeat with some new faces on stage. After a weekend off, we’re pumped and ready. See you there.
Peace.
