The afrobeat machine hits the road again with a three-day run down south: We hit the The Canopy Club in Champaign on Thursday, 1/19, where we play the Groove Jammy event with Beat Kitchen and the Alma Afrobeat Ensemble (view flyer). For Friday, there are two shows in St. Louis: a morning show at Forest Park Community College (11 a.m.) and an evening performance at Off Broadway with Dub Kitchen, a local dub reggae act. We wrap up the weekend with at Hangar 9 in Carbondale, where we split the evening with Abateria.
CAbP & Abateria Steam Up the HotHouse on 1/13
Get over the new year’s blues with Chicago Afrobeat Project and Abateria, our favorite Latin band from Missouri, as we turn up the heat for an up-beat dance gig at the HotHouse on Friday night, 1/13. CAbP dancers Tosha and Eboney will perform along with talking drum master T.J. Okulnola and other good friends.
Chicago Public Radio Ranks Album in Top 10 World Albums of ’05
Chicago Public Radio’s Passport show , airing on 91.5 WBEZ Fridays at 9 p.m. CT, has ranked the Chicago Afrobeat Project debut album as one of the Top 10 World Music Albums of 2005. Next to albums from Ry Cooder and other great artists, we’re humbled by the recognition and would like to thank Chris Heim, host of Passport, and all at WBEZ for their support in 2005.
